Sailun EcoPoint3 in the Atrezzo tyres and three Ice Blazer lines for winter
EcoPoint3 - silica mixed in the liquid phase, not into dry rubber
Sailun Group is an independent Chinese company listed on the Shanghai stock exchange. In the Tyrepress 2025 ranking of manufacturers it stands tenth in the world. Technically, what separates Sailun from other mid-segment brands is one named development - EcoPoint3.
EcoPoint3 is a mixing method and has nothing to do with the tread pattern. The silica filler is dispersed in the liquid phase and only then combined with the rubber; the usual route works it mechanically into the already dry rubber compound. According to the manufacturer, the process improves safety, wear resistance and energy efficiency without degrading the other properties (Atrezzo ZSR 2 data sheet) - that is the manufacturer's wording, not an independent measurement.
The manufacturer mentions EcoPoint3 in the data sheets of the Atrezzo ZSR 2, Atrezzo Elite 2 and Atrezzo 4 Seasons Pro. It does not appear in the Ice Blazer data sheets. For winter Sailun uses other compounds: a variation of the Nordic compound in the studdable Ice Blazer WST 3 and a high-silica Alpine compound in the Ice Blazer Alpine EVO 2.
Ice Blazer Alpine, Arctic and WST - three different lines
The naming logic is simple: Atrezzo is the summer and all-season tyres for passenger cars and SUVs, Ice Blazer the winter tyres, Terramax the off-road vehicles, Commercio and Endure the vans and light commercial vehicles. These families are in our range, in diameters from R13 to R24, including C-marked and some RunFlat sizes.
The Ice Blazer name covers three distinct winter tyre lines, and in Latvia this choice matters more than the model number. Alpine is a Central European type tyre with high speed ratings and a silica compound, without studs; in the manufacturer's data the Alpine+ comes in 13-17 inch diameters, while the Alpine EVO 2 runs from 16 to 22 inches. Rim diameter narrows the choice, but in R16 and R17 sizes both lines are available. Arctic represents the Nordic type: a non-studded tyre with a soft compound for low temperatures. The studdable line is WST - in the WST 3 data sheet the manufacturer lists sizes from 155/70R13 to 315/35R20 with speed ratings Q, S, T and H.
What the choice means on the road is shown by category measurements, not by Sailun tests: the braking distance on ice in the speed interval from 25 to 5 km/h is 9.9 m for a studded tyre, 11.06 m for a Nordic non-studded tyre and 14.15 m for a Central European winter tyre (tyrereviews.com). Factory-studded tyres can be picked out in the studded tyre section; in Latvia they may be used from 1 October to 1 May.

Alpine EVO 2 in the AUTO BILD check, ZSR 2 with the TCS seal
In a separate AUTO BILD check the Ice Blazer Alpine EVO 2 in size 245/45 R19, tested on a BMW 5 Series car, reached 112.4% of the reference tyre's result in wet braking, and that was the best figure among the five tyres compared. In dry braking the figure fell to 98.9%, and that was only third place. The editors' conclusion: the tyre passes the check convincingly. The summer Atrezzo ZSR 2 received the TCS "good product" seal in the 2024 ADAC and TCS test in size 215/55 R17 - this is reported by a Sailun Europe release referring to that test.
In the large winter comparisons the brand is absent altogether: neither in the tyrereviews.com 2025 winter tests, nor in the AUTO BILD 205/55 R16 test, nor in the ADAC test of 31 tyres, even though other budget brands are represented there. What remains for comparison is the EU label the manufacturer states in the data sheets: Alpine EVO 2 - fuel efficiency B, wet grip B, exterior noise A; ZSR 2 - B, A and A.
Who Sailun suits best
Sailun suits a driver who wants a full seasonal set in the mid segment and knows which of the three Ice Blazer lines to look for. For icy country roads that is the studdable WST line, for Nordic grip without studs it is Arctic, and for cleared asphalt and higher speeds it is Alpine. For a sporty car in summer our range holds the Atrezzo ZSR 2 together with SUV sizes, for everyday driving the Atrezzo Elite 2, and for a van in winter the Commercio ICE, in a studded version too. When paying more is worth it is easier to weigh up with the comparison of budget and premium tyres.
Look for the tyre size, the load index and the speed rating on the tyre sidewall, on the door-frame sticker or in the car's owner's manual. No winter tyre is suitable for summer, and the winter requirement is set in law: since 1 October 2024 winter tyres on a vehicle up to 3.5 t must carry the mountain and snowflake marking, and from 1 December to 1 March the M+S marking alone is no longer enough - the CSDD checks this at the roadworthiness inspection. Every Sailun winter and all-season tyre in our range has this marking; what the other tyre markings mean is explained separately.
