About the brand

Borbet

Borbet is a German alloy rim manufacturer founded in 1962 in Hesborn (Hallenberg municipality, Upper Sauerland) by Peter Wilhelm Borbet. The company began making alloy rims in 1977, and it is still a family business. Borbet employs around 4000 people, with plants in Germany, Austria, South Africa and the United Kingdom, while rims for the aftermarket are distributed by its subsidiary Borbet Vertriebs in Neuching, Bavaria. The company also supplies rims to the major carmakers as original equipment.

Borbet rims are made by low-pressure casting. The range includes the A, W, Y, N and CW series, with various spoke designs and polished, gloss or matt finishes. The manufacturer states that the W and Y models are suitable for winter use. Many of the rims have an ABE approval issued by the German Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt or a Teilegutachten expert report. Before buying, the bolt pattern (PCD), offset (ET) and centre bore (DIA) must be matched. The rims are complemented by Borbet hub centric rings, which adapt the rim's centre bore (DIA) to the car's hub.
