Goodyear is launching a new model in the Eagle F1 family to replace the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5. With compatibility for electric vehicles and new technologies that improve dry-road performance, as well as handling and braking on wet road surfaces, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6.
The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6's performance has been enhanced by adding an adaptive contact patch and an optimised cavity that adjusts to changes in load. During extreme manoeuvres, the tyre's contact area increases to ensure a higher level of grip.
In addition to its performance in dry conditions, the tyre's wet-weather performance has been improved by using a rubber compound with a new resin formulation. This gives the tyre a higher level of micro-contact with the road surface in damp and wet conditions. Goodyear has also carried over technology from its ultra-high-performance tyres to increase the flexibility of the Asymmetric 6, and this technology further improves grip.
The manufacturer's entire tyre range is EV-ready. This latest Eagle F1 has been designed with a noise-reducing pattern to reduce the noise level by 1 dB compared with the previous Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5. In addition, new compound technology reduces the tyre's rolling resistance to help extend the driving range of EVs.
Production of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 will begin in 28 sizes from January 2022, with additional sizes supplied throughout the year. By 2023, the model's range will offer 65 sizes from 17 to 22 inches.
