The new IceContact 3 tyre features a directional tread pattern that improves its performance on both wet and dry asphalt surfaces.
The tyre's rubber compound also keeps it flexible even at low temperatures. In response to drivers' requests gathered during surveys, the tyre has been given a maximum speed rating of T - 190 km/h.
Tyres in sizes from 14 to 16 inches will feature standard aluminium studs, while those in 17 to 21 inch sizes will have the new ContiFlexStud studs.
The ContiFlexStud studs offer four undeniable advantages: secure grip on icy surfaces, a longer service life, a low noise level and minimal impact on the road surface.
The flexible tread conforms to the contours of the road surface, allowing the ContiFlex studs to bite deep into the ice. This transfers the engine's power to the wheels more efficiently. The studs' rubber housing wears down in step with the tread, keeping the studs effective for as long as possible. The new studs make contact with the road far more gently and therefore produce less noise, ensuring a more comfortable ride. The studs in the ContiFlexStud system have 20% less negative impact on the road surface.
