Riken is a tyre brand with Japanese roots: Riken Gomu Industry was founded in Japan in 1917, and since 1992 the brand has belonged to the French Michelin group. In Latvia it is often sold alongside Kormoran - a Polish brand launched in 1994 by Stomil-Olsztyn. The factory in Olsztyn dates back to 1935 and has also been owned by Michelin since 2007. Both brands sit in the budget segment: simple, safe construction at an affordable price. Riken describes itself as a modern European brand with the motto "Just efficient". The range includes summer tyres (Summer 3, Summer 3 SUV, Road Performance, Ultra High Performance), studded winter tyres (Stud 2, Stud SUV, AllStar Stud) and studless ones (Snow), as well as all-season tyres and light commercial vehicle tyres. Both types of winter tyre suit the Latvian winter, summer tyres are for the warm season, and all-season tyres are a workable option for low annual mileage.
