Michelin also offers a new sporty model, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4, designed for the sport versions of mid- and large-class cars. Thanks to the finest technologies used, developed for tyres competing in motorsport, the new tyres feature “the highest level of handling and safety characteristics in their class.

These high results were achieved thanks to an innovative technology, Dynamic Response: the use of an additional layer in the tyre's construction, which is essentially an exceptionally durable textile made of aramid and nylon threads and lets the tyre withstand the strong centrifugal force and maintain the stability of the contact patch at exceptionally high speed.

By increasing the tyre's positive profile by 10% (compared with the Michelin Pilot Sport 3), thanks to the larger amount of rubber used in the tread, it was also possible to improve handling and grip. The much stiffer tread structure helps maintain high stability of the contact patch, especially when manoeuvring at high speed.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 rubber compound contains latest-generation functional elastomers that allow it to conform to the shape of the road surface, ensuring maximum grip on wet asphalt. The deep longitudinal grooves efficiently channel water away from the contact patch, significantly reducing the risk of aquaplaning.

The use of Premium Touch technology gives the lettering on the tyre's outer sidewall an elegant, velvety effect. Every Michelin Pilot Sport 4 size also features a protective rim strip that guards against scuffing and gives the tyre a more refined, far more pleasing appearance on the wheel rim.

In the 2016 summer season the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres will be available in 17 sizes for wheel rims with a diameter of 17 to 19 inches, which accounts for roughly 50% of the market capacity in the 17”+ segment.
