PERION PA60 (506901066) 60Ah 660A

PERION PA60 (506901066) - a battery for cars with 60Ah of capacity. This is an AGM battery - the electrolyte is held in glass fibre rather than free liquid, which suits start-stop systems and cars with many electrical consumers. Case code L2R means 242 x 175 x 190 mm, and those dimensions are what decide whether the battery drops into the tray. Cold cranking amps are 660 A to the EN standard, and the colder it gets the more that figure matters. The positive terminal sits on the right, looking at the terminals with the battery upright. The 60Ah capacity sets how long the battery can feed the electrical consumers with the engine off.

Perion is a battery brand of Hungarian origin - production was once based in Budapest, and in the 1990s the plant supplied batteries to the Suzuki and Opel factories in Hungary. The Budapest plant has since ceased production, and in 2002 the rights to the brand name were taken over by Varta, which today belongs to the Clarios group, one of the world's largest makers of starter batteries. On the market Perion is known as a cheaper alternative to Varta batteries. The Perion batteries we stock are made for passenger cars: 12 V, capacity from 35 to 105 Ah and cold cranking amps from 300 to 910 A. Most are conventional flooded lead-acid batteries, but the range also includes AGM models for cars with a start-stop system. In a Latvian winter it is the cold cranking amps that matter most - the higher they are, the more easily the engine starts in the cold.
