EXIDE EL700 70Ah 760A

EXIDE EL700 is a 70Ah battery for cars. EFB is an enhanced flooded battery: it takes more charge and discharge cycles than a conventional lead-acid one, which is why start-stop cars are fitted with it. The case matches code L3R, that is 278 x 175 x 190 mm, which is worth checking against the old battery before ordering. Cranking current is 760 A to the EN standard, which is how much current the battery can deliver on a cold start. The positive terminal is on the right, which decides whether the car cables reach it. Capacity of 70Ah is the energy reserve the battery holds while the engine is not running.

Exide is one of the oldest battery brands in the world. Its origins go back to 1888, when The Electric Storage Battery Company started up in the USA, while the Exide name has been in use since 1900. Today the European arm is headquartered in France, near Paris, and has plants in several European countries. The manufacturer states that it was the first to bring Start-Stop AGM and EFB batteries to market; Exide supplies them both to carmakers as original equipment and to the aftermarket. The range is built around the Excell series for cars without Start-Stop, Premium Carbon Boost with a carbon additive in the negative plates that, according to the manufacturer, allows charging up to twice as fast, plus Start-Stop EFB and Start-Stop AGM for more demanding systems with energy recuperation.
