Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 - a studless Nordic winter tyre made for long spells of frost and snow. The Cryo Crystal Concept adds hard crystalline grip particles to the rubber compound that act like built-in studs and are exposed as the tyre wears. The cryo silane compound combines silica, natural rubber and rapeseed oil, so the tyre stays flexible at very low temperatures. A dense network of sipes with pump sipes draws water away, grip claws between the tread blocks improve traction, and triangular claws on the shoulders keep slush from building up. The manufacturer states a braking distance on ice from 80 km/h that is 10 metres shorter than on the previous generation. The tyre carries the 3PMSF marking. Also suitable for electric and hybrid vehicles.
